AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!

My week was fairly uneventful. I read, read, read. I also wrote a bunch of reviews and drafted some posts. And then yesterday happened. We worked outside for awhile tidying some things up and taking down a rotten tree before it eventually fell where we didn't want it to. We tied a rope to it and the kids & I waited nervously while hubby made his cuts with the chainsaw. I was worried it might timber before he was done since it was so rotten and we did *not* want it to go the direction it was leaning. So when the chainsaw got pinched on the backside cut we pulled and lo and behold it fell where we wanted with no damage to life, limb or protery. Victory is ours! Bonus...the kids thought it was pretty cool and wanted to do another tree. I'll remind them of that another day when we need to do another one out behind the old shed. :D

While we were tidying things outside FedEx arrived with my early Mother's Day present. Hubby is working next weekend so he told me Thurs to order the Paperwhite since I've been wanting it. It was on sale and I qualified for the deferred payments, so my precious arrived yesterday afternoon. It's so light! And cute! It will be my dedicated review ereader and my Fire will be free for other things. Woot! I have only to name it. My Fire is named Portal and hubby suggested Stargate, which I like, but I'm going to mull it over some more.

And as a final addition to a great day April brought Kyleigh to visit. Remember a few weeks ago when I said I had won 2 gift cards from Amazon? Well, I skipped every book on my wish list and bought Kyleigh a bouncy seat instead. Her enjoyment of it is worth more than any book I could have purchased. And you guys know how much I love to read! lol

After a busy time in the bouncy seat, visiting with everyone, tummy time and drooling on Grandpa's Bears blanket then playing with Uncle Trip on the same blanket, Grandpa rocked her to sleep. :)

Today we will be doing more outside work. Assuming, of course, that we can get our butts in gear. It's already 11:00am, but it's a gorgeous day out and we need to take advantage of it. Motivation, I needs some! Carpe Diem! But first, a bit more tea. *winks*

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

    1. Thanks, Kimba!

I'm glad, too! *wipes forehead* Normally I don't worry too much about taking down a tree, but that thing was rotten from the ground up about 6' and could have been so unpredictable. Whew! :)

  4. Ha - I don't blame you at all for spending book money on your precious granddaughter. Too cute. Using chainsaws always makes me nervous since my 7th grade science teacher almost cut his leg off with one. *shivers*

    1. All power tools (specifically saws of any kind) make me a bit nervous. I can use them, but I prefer my husband do it. lol

  5. Glad the tree went well! And congrats on the Paperwhite- awesome. Stargate is a great name, by the way... :)

    1. I haven't named it yet, but Stargate is most likely going to be the winner. :)

    1. I was nervous with it being rotten and so close to the house. So many things can go wrong. Such a relief it's down! She is a cutie especially now that she's starting to coo and make all kinds of noises. :)

  7. That's very sweet to get your granddaughter a bouncy seat instead of books! Books are difficult to pass up. I have a copy of God Save the Queen. I bought it awhile back; I hope to read it this summer!! I've been trying to read and draft a lot of posts lately too. I'm doing well, but still about four reviews behind...need to do that!

    1. Books are definitely hard to pass up! lol

I'm still a bit behind on the review writing and drafting, but not as bad as before. Must keep the ball rolling! :)

  8. Aww Kyleigh is soo cute! :) And I've always wanted a Paperwhite but I'm a little tight on the budget because a big chunk of my money goes to buying books lol. Stargate is a really great name though, i love it! :D

I love that I qualified for the deferred payment. I got it on sale for $99 and the payments are like $20/month (5 payments). Easy to do! Stargate may be the winner. :)

  9. Isn't Kyleigh getting cuter by the minute :) I remember those bouncy seats (they looked much more simple when mine where little), but boy, did they love them.
I love my Paperwhite. It's actually the first eReader I bought - have been resisting the eReader revolution too long, but now don't know why I waited so long. It's brilliant especially for review books, so easy. Mind, I still love the feel of paperbacks and being able to pick them up.
    Thanks for stopping by :)
Have a great week and Happy Reading.

    1. She is! :D My kids had one, too and with my youngest being 13 we no longer had anything babyish around anymore. Well, I do have a portable playpen in its own carry case, a crib that converts to a toddler bed (disassembled out in the shed) and we have baby books and beanie babies, but other than that, no swing, bassinet, high chair or clothes.

I haven't really had a chance to play with my Paperwhite yet, but I can't wait to organize my review books on it!

  11. Glad the tree went well! Contrary to my side of the world, XD. I feel like I'm copying Greg now and I'd have to agree Stargate is an awesome name. o_O

Stargate just may end up the winner. :)
