AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!
April is nearly over and that means 1/3 of 2014 is just about gone. This year is flying by. The weather has been fairly nice and back to normal for NC. Weds and Thurs were sunny and 70s, so we took everything out of the 'new' shed AKA the Exterior Library and gave it a total cleaning and started caulking the interior. It was becoming a catch all for stuff besides tubs of books and since we took so long to get it totally enclosed there were some things we didn't put in there. Such as a snake (I relocated it), a dead mouse (ewwww), a bazillion stinkbugs (RIP you little nasty bastards), leaves, a bird's nest and spiderwebs. Some of the stuff we put in got tossed and the rest we cleaned and put back in a tidy manner. It looks so much better now! We'll finish caulking it this week and then we'll save for the linoleum. After that we'll start building the bookshelves. It's a project nearly 4 years in the making, but the end is in sight. Finally!

Cleared the trees for the site.
This is what it looked like for a long time hence the freeloading residents.
Finally got the door on late last Fall. Though now it actually has a deadbolt and doorknob. I'm slacking on the picture taking.
And yes, we've done all the work ourselves. Not too shabby for amateurs, eh?
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

The weather has been good around here, but it's supposed to rain all this week, unfortunately. I have See You in Hell to review too. Looks fun.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I just checked TWC and it looks like we'll have a wet week. That's ok. We have shows to watch and Diablo III to play. :D I look forward to your review. I'm going to read the short Welcome to Hell this week. They do look like fun. :)
DeleteI want an Exterior Library. When you are done can you come up here and build me one? PLEASE!!!! Ewww stink bugs I hate those more than the dead mouse!
ReplyDeleteLove all those pretty covers. Clockworkers looks creepy is it suppose to be creepy? I am going to check that out once I am done typing this!
Have a great week! Happy Reading!
Like Michelle, I want an exterior library. With the limited space in our condo, I've had to get quite creative with how to store my books and movies!
DeleteLOL I'll be lucky to get ours done before the end of 2014. And stinkbugs are awful. Ick!
DeleteClockworkers is supposed to be a dark fantasy, so I bet it will be a bit creepy.
Thanks and you, too!
@Terri ~ I bet! We don't have any more room in the house hence the Exterior Library. Much cheaper than an addition. lol
I love the look of your little Exterior Library in the Woods. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteIt's fun having a separate place to go to ponder and even read. Enjoy your week...and here's MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES
Thank you! :)
DeleteI love the Exterior Library!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm not sure what project we'll do once it's done. It's taken up so much of our time the last few years. lol
DeleteThe library looks great, you guys did a great job! Got a laugh out of the "freeloading residents" comment. Don't the animals know they're supposed to stay the heck out? :) Seriously though, looks very nice.
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! What's wrong with them?! lol And thanks! :)
DeleteClockworkers has a spooky cover!
ReplyDeleteThe outside library looks nice and I'm sure the animals enjoyed the free room and board. :D
It seriously does. O.O
DeleteThank you! I'm sure they did. What didn't get kicked out got sucked up into the shop vac though. LOL
See You In Hell has me curious. Carol I love your DIY project and would move in! It looks wonderful, now you need some sweet chairs for the porch, a few flowers and coffee! I will come sit and read with you :)
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading the short story that precedes it and it is humorous. I'm looking forward to reading See You in Hell. :) We're thinking of getting a glider for the porch and I'll plant flowers after I set the blocks in front. We're still using them to set the miter saw when we need to cut wood. lol
DeleteWow, not too shabby at all Carol - your outside library looks like it's coming along very nicely. I hope that we'll get a place someday where we can build something like that. Did you freak when you found the snake? I'm so scared of snakes it would have taken me a while to go back in and my BF would have had to relocate it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Berls! It's been a labor, sometimes of love and many times with cursing. lol Ah, the snake. I saw it and said, 'Hey, there's a snake. It needs to be moved out to the woods." My husband and youngest son said they weren't touching it, so I put on a glove, cornered him, grabbed him as close to the head as possible and moved him outside. He wasn't all that big (only about a foot, maybe bigger), so it was no problem. My husband. The big tough Marine. *sigh* LOL
