AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday! Kids are back to school and life is settling down into some sort of normalcy even if Mother Nature continues to act like she's suffering from PMS and she's out of chocolate. We may have had record low temps for NC. I was too busy not freezing my nipples off to check the stats. I had to break out the vestiges of my Ohio life: ski headband, gloves and muffler or as the product says 'gaiter' which sounds too much like goiter to me. Anyway, we suffered in the single digits with it in the negatives when the wind chill was added. Unheard of for around here. But we were back up into the 50s and even popped into the 60s yesterday. That is just fucked up. Pardon my so-called French.

The family are still battling colds, but nothing serious, only irritating. My stepdaughter made a trip to the ER when she hadn't felt the baby move for over 18 hrs. However, as soon as they hooked up the monitor she went crazy, so I guess she was just taking a break. 6 weeks (possibly less) to go until our granddaughter arrives. I am so not ready to be a gramma. Ah, well. Such is life. Adapt and overcome, or end up on Jerry Springer, right? Wait...is he even still on the air?

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Enjoy your new reads...and stay warm! It's been brutal here in NY, but this weekend we're enjoying 40's and 50's...and the sun just came out after drenching rains.

  3. A light week this time around. We were even colder up here but that's more normal for us. I can't imagine being in NC and being that cold.

You'll love being a grandma and best wishes to your stepdaughter for a smooth remainder of her pregnancy.

  11. Where I live we've been having some warm weather for this time of the year, although today we had a slightly colder day.

I haven't heard of any of the books you got this week, I hope you enjoy them!

  12. Our weather has been crazy, too. We started last week with frigid temps and ended with temps in the 50's. Lots of rain, but that's better than lots of snow :)

    Enjoy your books!

    1. I don't know what is going on with the weather, but it needs to get itself together. lol We actually wouldn't mind a bit of snow. It's pretty scarce here in NC. *pouts*

    1. The nipples, thankfully, made it through the cold weather intact. As my husband said, "If you freeze your nipples off how are you going to know when it's cold?" LOL

      Thanks and thanks! :)

  17. It was damned cold! Glad you made it through and things are returning to normalcy. We are attempting that here too. :) And very glad all is healthy with the baby. :)

    1. It was ridiculous! And I've been here long enough (nearly 17 yrs) that I am not used to that kind of cold weather anymore. lol

      Thank you! :)

  18. You may think you are not ready to be a grandparent, but it won't be long until you forget what life was like before!! Nice book haul and I hope your nipples remain in place!! *wink* For me... we are heading into a heat wave in Aus .... 40'C+ (104'F+) for the whole week!! yay!

  19. Ha! Mother Nature made it slightly chilly over here. Florida weather has been a bit ridiculously warm for a while. Happy your stepdaughter's baby was alright! That would have scared me as well. I was supposed to do the same thing with NetGalley and I have a plan too. Hopefully both our plans work out :D

    1. I think Mother Nature took some bribes from the Arctic. It wanted to travel but needed Her to get down this far. lol

Thanks! The grandbaby seems to be doing ok.

*lifts a box of chocolate in salute* Here's to both our plans working. :)

  20. Gah, we are right there with you...The south is ridiculous in the winter...it was freezing last week, today was 64...I'm glad everything is okay with the baby!
I'm currently stalking Edelwiess because Harper doesn't seem to want to approve me, so i keep clicking request. Worst case scenario they approve me for all of them....best case scenario...they approve me for all of them, lol. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great (hopefully warmer) week!

LOL at best & worst cases. One of these days I'll be brave enough to look around Edelweiss. The way I am around NetGalley though makes me think I should run far away from Edelweiss. :D

  21. Cold weather is just nasty. Like Naomi, I've been stuck with a heat wave and I've run out of clothes I can decently take off in public. Last week it hit 43 degrees celsius (109 fahrenheit) and I just melted. I wonder if the cold weather affected your step-daughter's bub and it decided to hibernate.

    1. I just wish it would pick a happy medium and stay there for awhile. All this up, down, up, down, etcetc is getting ridiculous. 109º?! Yikes! I bet you are now rethinking the clothes you can indecently take off, right? lol

And hibernating is certainly a possibility for the little one. It was cold enough!

  22. LOL mother nature is always in a constant state of PMS here but we finally had our first 'official snow'. It didn't melt this time around and the temperature is dropping. I wish I could just stay home and drink hot chocolate and never have to leave :P

I absolutely adored Hold me Closer, Necromancer so I cannot wait to see what you thought! :D

    Happy Reading!! :D
