AVR News Update
The weather around these parts has been warm. Very weird. But we're supposed to get some nasty ice coming in around 4am Sunday morning (this is Saturday night), so we'll see how yucky it gets around here. Hopefully no power outages will happen. Those suck since we have well water. No power=no water. At least we have firewood for the fireplace and kerosene for the heater. I'll fill the bathtub up with water to flush the toilets, just in case. For those who don't know, if you dump a bucket of water in a toilet it will flush down even without power, so no marinating of excrement in the throne needs to be endured, which is ewwww.
I dropped the van off Monday to the body shop and picked up the rental. It was a Chrysler Sebring 200 and was nice but I didn't really like how it drove. Anyway, the rental went back Wednesday, but the van wasn't done so the body shop (which is a dealer) gave me a Honda Odyssey to drive. Oh. My. That was a nice van. When they called on Friday afternoon to tell me the van was being washed and I could pick it up around 4:00 I asked if they didn't need to keep it a few more days. You know, just to be extra sure it was dry and the window seal was set. No dice. *sigh* So I picked up the van and reluctantly turned over the Odyssey keys. Our van was so shiny! I haven't washed the thing for quite some time and it showed. lol It looks good and a big plus is they used our window glass so I only lost the big sticker that was on the hatch and not the ones on my window. Yay!
Starting Friday I will be doing a 12 Days of a Kensington Christmas where I feature a Kensington book for the 12 days leading up to Christmas. I wish I had planned this a little better and had more waiting to be posted. As it is I have 2 down, 10 to go. I better get crackin'! Yeah, yeah, I know I'm supposed to be on a Blogging Vacation, but I just can't help myself. LOL

Sandy @ Somewhere Only We Know
I have no willpower. LOL Though I really really need to get more of my NetGalley books reviewed.
DeleteThanks! :)
Looks like some pretty good acquisitions there. Glad to hear the van saga is over, isn't it tough giving a vehicle back when you really like it? :) Hopefully you guys avoid the worst of the bad weather.
ReplyDeleteI read your Saturday Shorts post and was kinda intrigued by the Dresden files one. I keep hearing about this series I may have to look into it further, everyone seems to really love it.
I certainly hope the saga is over. *fingers crossed* So far so good on the weather front. Just rain, though it is hovering near freezing.
DeleteI happen to love the Dresden Files. I even read the graphic novels and watched the show. Not everyone loves it as much as me, but that's ok. :)
Oh, I hope you liked Darkness Rising, and I am looking forward to your Christmas reviews. We grew up in a rural area with well-water so I am all to familiar with bathtubs full of water for flushing..LOL Sweet haul this week, and a few covers have me itching to go investigate.!
ReplyDeleteI loved it! I need to calm down before writing the review. I was just so excited I was afraid it would only say, repeatedly, how much I loved it. lol I hope you investigated some of those covers and picked some up. ;)
DeleteOh, hope your power doesn't go out! I always hate that....and I don't have the water issues you do.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books, whether by electricity or flashlight....and here's MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES
So far so good. *fingers crossed*
DeleteThanks! :)
Wow you got a lot of books this week! I hope you enjoy them all :) Hopefully you don't lose power! =D
ReplyDeleteI know! I was posting covers and it seemed to never end. LOL I hope so, too. :)
DeleteI know the toilet trick all too well having spent most of my life on well water. It's a nuisance. Good luck with the weather!
ReplyDeleteSo many books, so little time.Fangs, Fur, and Mistletoe looks interesting and so does The Strong Brain.
It is a nuisance especially when the power goes out and we're unprepared. Ugh!
DeleteExactly. I need more time! :)
Necromancing the Stone was so much fun! Not as fun as the first book, I'm afraid, but still very enjoyable!
ReplyDeleteAnd wow, that's a lot of books
Happy reading!
I'd be surprised if it was as good as the first. The first took me by surprise. :) I'll settle for enjoyable. I'm itching to get started on it.
DeleteI know. *chews lip* But they all sounded so good! lol
WOW great lot of books!!! The Beggar King looks really interesting I love the cover
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading :)

Because reading is better than real life
My 13yo son is going to read The Beggar King and then I'm going to fit it in. If he likes it I may use his review. He's so picky about books and I'm not sure if this one will appeal. At least he's going to give it a try. :)
DeleteLol - at least you're prepared for an outage. You definitely have plenty of books to occupy your time. Hope you enjoy them. :)
ReplyDeleteAt least I have plenty of paper books in case of power outage and my Fire battery dies. So far we're still good. :)
DeleteThanks!
We were warm last week until Saturday. Now we have snow. lol.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week with all you have going on. :)
I too have a Sunday Post up this week, abide a bit late. ;)

So far just rainy. Keeping the fingers crossed for overnight lows to stay above freezing.
DeleteThanks! :)
Ugh we've had warm and rainy weather recently too...sucks. I hate living GA during the winter, because it can't decide if it's going to be winter or just gross all the time. You definitely picked up a lot of books to read this week, so I hope you enjoy them all!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Being from OH means I miss the snow once in awhile. lol
DeleteThanks!
I hope y'all stay safe during the ice storm. It isn't going to come close enough to us here, we are going to tons of rain, but snow on Tuesday. We live out in the country, so we have a well too and gas for heat. No electricity means no heat. Enjoy the new books.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my Sunday Post.
We were good. It passed north of us. Just cold and rain here. :)
DeleteWow that is a lot of books. Hope you enjoy them and happy reading :D
