My Dream of Madonna & An Ecstatic Rendezvous

My Dream of Madonna & An Ecstatic Rendezvous

My Rating ~ 4 out of 5

Two short stories that took me very little time to read. I think this will be my shortest review ever.

Delightfully weird. Or weirdly delightful. Whichever you chose. I enjoyed both short stories and would like to explore more of David Russell's work.

  1. My Dream of Madonna & An Ecstatic Rendezvous
    By David Russell
In both stories the author, David Russell, explores intimacy and sexual fantasies from a narcissistic male prospective.
In My Dream of Madonna the protagonist fantasizes about what it would be like to have a sexual encounter with Madonna, the pop singer. What, at first, seems like a weird relating of the story and doesn’t make much sense, is really, to my thinking, a well-written dream sequence (let’s face it dreams can be weird at times and not make much sense). As with any erotic fantasy, the encounter is everything the person wants it to be and the protagonist leaves feeling satisfied and fulfilled. By the way, I got a kick out of the references Mr. Russell makes to some of Madonna’s songs.
The second short, An Ecstatic Rendezvous, is about shy male protagonist who longs to live out his sexual fantasy of having a one night stand with a seductive, sexy woman but he lacks the confidence to act on that desire. Finally, after months of honing his body to what he perceives is the perfect male specimen, he finally plucks up the courage to search the personal ads and finds the woman he desires. In their first encounter the two indulge in a little phone sex which leaves both of them wanting more. They decide to meet in person and see if the reality is better than the fantasy. The description of the physical encounter was extremely sensual and came to a satisfying conclusion for both parties. The two part ways but encounter serves a mechanism that frees the sexually repressed protagonist and he glories in his new found sexual freedom.
If you are looking for a non-traditional take on sexual fantasies from a male perspective with more sensuality than graphic sexual description then these quick reads are stories you may enjoy.
