It all adds up. I'm sorry about the stepchildren drama - I can't imagine. I totally understand bending over backwards, though. I've done that for my sister-in-law, who is literally a stranger to me two years later. My brother is allegedly getting a divorce (who knows after all the lies he's told), so I don't even bother. It makes me sad because it's basically like they don't even exist. I hope you are able to see your grandchildren. <br /><br />I've had several students with schizophrenia. It is hardly ever diagnosed at the age where I have them, and the knowledge of each individual kid has been chilling. I am glad your son was confident enough to talk to you. Things could have been entirely different. So glad you guys were able to get him what he needed and that he is doing well. That is hard and rough.
