--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: We've been super busy and it sucks. Ok, it doesn't suck like most things, but I hate being on the go, go, go. We've made a couple runs to Lowe's to get wood for bookshelves in the Exterior Library. We've made a few grocery runs and we're pretty well stocked up on food and other things, but we could use some "shit paper" (hubby's words). We've got enough for about another week, maybe two, but my stepdaughter works at Dollar General and she said a truck is coming in Weds and she'll put back a large pack of Angel Soft for us and we'll pick it up. It's so fucking stupid. If people would buy like normal then the stores wouldn't be out of anything. I bought my monthly bulk pack at BJ's right before the shit hit the fan (almost literally), so we were pretty good for awhile there. But I'd like to score a decent-sized pack before we start using all the single socks or leaves from the woods. With 5 of us (well, 6 since Alex is always over) we go through it fairly quickly.

So, we started our shed, dubbed the Exterior Library, waaaaaay back in 2010. We finally got it all finished and enclosed a couple of years ago, but have never gotten around to actually building the bookshelves. Well, bitches, I'm hear to tell you that since hubby is laid off, he's gung ho on the Project Front and we're nearly done. I'm gonna die from all this work though. Not really. I'm just being dramatic. This would be SO much easier if we didn't have so much shit in the shed already (mostly boxes and tubs of books but other misc crap, too), but we're so close to being done! So, here's some pics:

This morning we're going to start unloading books from boxes and tubs on 3 of the empty shelves and, hopefully, make a lot of room to put up the last 2 pieces of plywood and build the last shelf. I'm hoping to have pics filled with book righteousness for you next week. Also, I probably shouldn't mention this, but there is no rhyme, reason, or order of any kind to the books on the shelves. That will come later when we organize and start a database for them. We had a database once, but it was lost when my computer crashed in 2015 and my flashdrive didn't safe eject. GAH!

Touching Nature: Rain, cool temps, then a sudden spurt of 80s in the last few days. Gross. Seriously. We do not need it that hot with no leaves yet on the trees for shade. Especially since we've been working inside a shed that would normally be shaded when the trees are dressed. A front is moving in Tues and it's supposed to go back to actual Spring temps. Thank the Book Gods.

In other news, I've been burning some parts of 4 huge pines we had taken down awhile ago. And the same guy who dropped those 4 trees (all 100'+) for us will be back today to get started on 8 more pines that need to go. See? Too many things going on, but all needing done. They are close to the house or I'd let hubby do them. But I don't trust us not to smash our house, so we hired the son of a friend who works for a tree removal service. We'll let him and his friend do their thing and we'll work on the shed.

Book News: I've got nothing to report here and it's making me cranky. Rain in the forecast for Tues means I might actually read ALL DAY.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Coming up on the season 5 ender of Supernatural. Watched the newest Star Wars Clones Wars: Season 7.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Nope

Randomness: May you all have a child (ok, he's 34, but he's still my child) who shares shit like this on your Facebook wall. WTF LOL

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Physical work is good for you. That's what I was told. All I know is my feet are killing me and my lower back hates me. *pours myself another glass of wisdom wine*

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. What a lovely project - that library you're building looks fabulous (says she, trying not to drool with envy). Hope the weather eases up, though. I'm guessing such a spike in temperature burns away the Spring flowers - no risk of that here! We have a bitter easterly blowing us inside out! Stay safe and have a good week:)

  2. I remember when y'all enclosed the shed a few years ago! How exciting that it's finally becoming the library is was meant to be. Great use of quarantine, laid off time. Can't wait to see it finished.

And your son cracks me up!

Have a great week, stay safe!

  3. Im jealous of your library! I have a database cause I use a program that has both computer software, cloud backup and an app but not enough shelves to organise the books with!

Wishing you a great reading week and good health (and toilet paper)

  5. The library is cool! It's handy having something to do at home at the moment. My husband is gung-ho on the garden and getting the vegetables seeded and planted out.

The toilet paper thing hand me laughing. People have truly lost their minds when it comes to food shopping and the TP!

  6. Wow your shed is really something. I have lots of bookcases but I am working to switch everything I can to digital these days. It's great you are able to focus on projects; I'm not there yet. I'm not a heat lover and am also waiting for the front to come in for some chores.

Have a healthy, safe and productive week and happy reading!

  7. I love that library! So awesome. I can't wait to see the final results. And yes, you gave me a mild panic attack when you said it's not organized, but it's good that you are planning on organizing. Pheeeeew! :D

It's good you are getting projects done, might as well make use of the hubby while he's home, lol.

Happy reading, don't work too hard, and stay safe!
