--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: Had the grandkiddos Tuesday. It's so much fun playing with them then sending them home. I swear, this is our reward for having kids. Mwahahahaha! We'll have them again tomorrow. Boys are off for a teacher workday and hubby has taken a few vacation days, so 3 teens in the house to help. It never hurts to have back up. :D

In other news, the Indians are up 3-1 in the World Series. I do believe I will have a heart attack before this gig is over. Hubby and I were at game 5 of the 1997 World Series because he was still in the Marines and he was in the color guard. Indians lost, but that was a great game. My oldest son (he's 31) lives in Ohio and he went to Game 1 this go round. Tickets were expensive. He said he would probably need to sell a testicle to get one and I said go ahead. He wasn't giving me grandkids anyway. Yes, I'm that kind of mom. LOL

We're planning on early voting this morning. Hopefully there won't be any lines. We kinda live in the boonies and they open at 11:00, so I'm hoping everyone will be at church. LOL

Touching Nature: Finally raked the turnaround where hubby dragged it with the blade last week. Then Battle 1 of Leafageddon began. I love living in the woods...until this time of year. Acorns and leaves everywhere and it's only just started.

Book News: I have little to report here. I read a couple books and even wrote the reviews. I currently have no reviews to write, but I'm 4 books behind on my Goodreads Challenge and I even lowered the number from 250 to 200. I may still make that number, but I have a feeling it's gonna be a photo finish. I can pick up speed after I finish my holiday issue InD'tale books.

I also wanted to mention that I put a content warning on the blog only because I do review erotica and monster porn and I thought maybe I had pushed my luck a bit too far. I figured I should put it on myself before Blogger caught on that I had some content not suitable for younger viewers.

Don't Touch That Dial!: No NCIS, but a few Star Wars: Clone Wars Season 5. I'm seriously jonesing for a Supernatural marathon. We're still in season 9! NINE! Dammit!

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Nada

Randomness:  This is me nearly every single night.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Learn how to cook at least a few meals. Even if you suck at cooking, find something you like and keep trying until you can make it in your sleep. It's hard to fuck up a Crock Pot meal or a casserole you can just toss together and shove in the oven. When the apocalypse hits you'll be happy you can feed yourself. And nobody can be as bad as those people on that show The Worst Cooks in America. My daughter watches it and I've caught bits of it. I seriously do not believe some of those people.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

So, I may have made up for not having any additions last week.

  1. I spy a bunch of books I've checked out this week. So many and never enough time. LOL I'm battling the leaves too. I get a southern breeze and the neighbors Pecan trees shed into my pool. It's a mess once they sink to the bottom. I have to get in to get them and the water is not so warm anymore. LOL Good lukc on your reading challenge and have a Happy Halloween.

  2. I was 11 books behind on my Goodreads challenge so I lowered my goal from 100 to 90. Work has been busy so I haven't been able to read as much but listening to audiobooks in the car have helped. I love your nuggets of wisdom! I hate to cook and I use my crock pot a lot. I don't watch baseball so I hope your Indians win!

  6. I saw the content warning.... I'm fairly hard to shock so never worry. I swear a bit on my blog but haven't really thought of the content warning thing....

I've included a kinda explicit quote from a book in an upcoming review and re-read it a few times realising that you have to know what it means to know what it means (if that makes sense!)
