AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!

So the storm that came through Monday dropped less than an inch of snow before plopping a bunch of sleet on top of that. Ice, icy, baby. We parked at the top of the the drive so we were good to go. It snowed briefly again on Weds while we had ventured out to get a new router, but then it really didn't get warm so the ice stayed. The boys enjoyed sliding down the drive on their shoes and then on cardboard and school was cancelled every single day (except Monday when they released early in prep for the "storm"). Temps were cold, cold, cold. Today it's heading to 50º and the ice is finally melting. We went out this morning and finally got some groceries. We were down to 4 rolls of toilet paper for 8 people. Icypocalypse indeed.

Today is our granddaughter's first birthday and we're going to her party later today. So hard to believe a year has gone by!

Then & Now

In other news, our internet is still screwed up but at least we know it's not the router. The one we bought is an upgrade from the one we had and it should handle up to 10 devices with ease. So that means it's the modem or AT&T. I hate AT&T. I know, you guys probably get sick of hearing that, but I wish we had cable at least to choose from. Grrrr! It takes me forever to get anything done on the internet. I guess I need to give them yet *another* call. At least I don't need the internet to read. I've managed to finish several books. Amazing how productive I can be with slower than slow internet combined with artic temps and ice outside.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Ice is a bitch, worse in some ways than snow. At least it's melting now. I hope you can get the internet issues sorted out; it's so frustrating when you can't accomplish what you need or want.

Happy birthday to your grandbaby! I can't believe it's been a year.

    1. Thank you! That hat, that face, :D

I need to read that, like soon. I've had some crappy reads lately. I need some entertainment. :)

  4. Oh, I am sorry you are having problems with AT&T...so far, my experiences have been good. But that's probably because we don't have any major storms to put them to the test.

    Happy birthday, Kyleigh...what a cutie!

Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. We've had so many problems with AT&T so I totally understand. Every year or so we have to call them and complain about how utterly slow the speed has gotten, and then they come out say something a long the lines of "man, he gave you a really old router." or "they installed this wrong." and then they fix it...We had to do it a few weeks ago. So we'll see how long this lasts.

I hope you enjoy your granddaughter's birthday!

    1. They have the absolute worst customer service. Hell, they have the worst service ever. I've been fighting with them on and off since we moved in. That was over 14 yrs ago. I hate monopolies! We should have some choice! Grrrr!

It was a great party. :)

    1. Hard to believe, right? Wait until Prncess Sophia is a year. :)

The internet is still driving me crazy! I'm ready to just throw in the towel. I hate AT&T with a burning passion. I'm going to look into satellite again. We may not be able to game with it, but it may be good enough for streaming.

Yeah. It was getting to be a close thing there. Tp is all stocked up now. Crisis averted. lol

  7. I hate the ice - we're about to get some tonight :( good thing everything will just shut down since we're not equipped to deal with it here in Texas. Happy birthday to your granddaughter! A year already?!? Time goes too fast! Hope you had a wonderful day and good luck with your internet.

    1. Ice sucks. It truly does. Snow can be dealt with, but ice...ugh.

A year! O.O I know, right? Party was great! :) Internet still sucks. :(

  8. Ice can be bad. I'm glad you made it through - and without running out of TP! ;-) Good luck getting your internet problems solved. That sounds so frustrating!

    1. It was a close one, but luckily we didn't need to resort to leaves. :D Internet is still crapping out. AT&T service truly sucks the big weenie. It's very frustrating!

  9. I hate ice. I have no balance at all and end up on my butt most of the time. I like snow to look at but only if I don't need to go out in it...though going out to salt and scrape the paths is a pain. As for the toilet rolls, well that is one item that I stockpile in case of curry emergencies!

    1. Ice is bad. And our drive has about a 30º angle (and it's 300'), so going up it, on the ice, was an adventure in balance and foot placement. At least coming back down meant sliding as long as we could keep our balance. LOL If there is ever even the slightest hint of an apocalypse then TP is one thing I'm going to buy and buy and buy. LOL
