A lady never reveals the true extent of her decay...
Hannah Miles lives a quiet existence, helping her parents conduct research into a most terrible affliction - until a gruesome murder during her best friend's engagement party pulls her from the shadows. With her specialist's knowledge and demure disposition, Hannah is requested to aid the investigation.
Except Hannah discovers her role is to apologise in the wake of the rude and disgraced man tasked with finding the murderer. The obnoxious Viscount Wycliff thinks to employ Hannah purely as a front to satisfy Whitehall, but she'll have none of that.
The two must work together to find the murderer before the season is ruined. But the viscount is about to meet his greatest challenge, and it's not a member of the ton with a hankering for brains.

I know this has been said in previous reviews, but it’s going to be a recurring theme for awhile until I get caught up. So, I finished this audiobook back in December 2024. That’s a long time ago in book years. Especially since I've listened to and otherwise read many books since. However, I remember this story as an entertaining and unique read. It’s a mashup of historical fiction, mystery, paranormal, and zombies, and I love it. The writing, the characters, the mystery, and the narrator. All superb. Two non-decaying thumbs up. I’m going to keep an eye out for the next books to go on sale.

This sounds great! I missed it when it was released and am thankful for your review. I'm forever behind in posting my reviews to my blog because I tend to have busy spurts and take too many breaks. I'm hoping to stay consistent this time so I can actually catch up. Some day . . .
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope you like it as much as I did!
DeleteI have soooo many reviews to write. I learned to DNF when needed (a hard new habit to establish lol), but I hate not posting *something* when I finish a book. The last couple of years have just been hard, but I'm trying to whittle them down now. It feels good. :)
